Zimbabwe name Sikandar Raza captain for Namibia T20I tri-series

Sikandar Raza will captain Zimbabwe’s 15-member squad for the T20 International tri-series in Windhoek from August 28 to September 6. Namibia and South Africa will join Zimbabwe in the three-team competition.

Each side will meet the other two teams twice before the leading two advance to the final. Zimbabwe’s campaign starts against South Africa on August 29, followed by a meeting with Namibia on August 31.

Zimbabwe will then face South Africa again on September 1 and Namibia on September 3. South Africa will play Namibia on September 4, with the final scheduled for September 6.

Raza is joined by Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Graeme Cremer, Ben Curran, Brad Evans, Innocent Kaia, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Kundai Matigimu, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Newman Nyamhuri and Tafadzwa Tsiga.

Cremer returns after recovering from a left-arm injury that kept him out of Zimbabwe’s home series against Bangladesh and India. Fast bowlers Richard Ngarava and Tanaka Chivanga are absent, with Ngarava continuing rehabilitation for a lower-back problem and Chivanga recovering after Achilles tendon surgery. Both remain under medical supervision.

The series is part of a wider effort to increase regular, high-level competition between African cricket nations. The initiative is being led by Africa Cricket Association chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani and is intended to build towards the Africa Cup, planned for 2027, which is designed to offer African teams a structured continental competition.
