72 athletes qualify for the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final

Seventy-two athletes have already secured their spots for the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels. With the series heading into its final stages, only three meetings remain on the schedule: Lausanne on August 21, Silesia on August 23, and Zurich on August 27.

Among those who have qualified are several world record holders and reigning champions. Pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis has booked his place following victories in Shanghai/Keqiao, Paris, and Monaco, where he will seek a sixth consecutive title. Nigerian 100m hurdles world record holder Tobi Amusan has also qualified as she attempts to reclaim her previous titles. In the men's 800m, Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi secured his qualification after setting a 1000m world record in Monaco.

Other confirmed qualifiers include Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred in the women's 200m, long jumper Militiadis Tentoglou, and javelin thrower Anderson Peters. The women's shot put is the only event with a complete lineup confirmed, featuring Jessica Schilder, Chase Jackson, Fanny Roos, Sarah Mitton, Yemisi Mabry, and Daniela Thomas-Dodd.

Several high-profile athletes are still working toward qualification. Audrey Werro, who has set two Diamond League records this season, intends to compete in Brussels alongside rivals such as Keely Hodgkinson and Femke Broeders-Bol. If they fail to earn enough points in the remaining meets, they may still qualify through one of four global wild cards. Belgian athletes Nafi Thiam, Delphine Nkansa, and Paulien Couckuyt will also participate via local wild cards, though they are ineligible for the Diamond League title.

The upcoming meetings will be decisive for many stars. In Lausanne, Shericka Jackson, Neeraj Chopra, and Grant Fisher aim to finalize their qualification. In Silesia, Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will be in focus. Meanwhile, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Elaine Thompson-Herah are scheduled to make their first Diamond League appearances of the season and will require strong results to secure their places in the final.
