Accra to host Global Game Scouting Tournament in September 2026

The Global Game Scouting Tournament is scheduled to take place in Accra on September 25 and 26, 2026. Held at the McDan Sports Complex in Labadi, the event is organized in partnership with ExcelsiorPro to identify promising young football talent.

Sixteen teams will compete in a knockout format during the two-day event. Each squad is expected to consist of roughly 18 players. The competition focuses on athletes aged 16 to 18, divided into four specific age categories: late 16, early 17, late 17, and early 18 years.

Scouts from professional clubs, academies, football agencies, and international organizations will attend to evaluate the participants. Assessment criteria for the players include tactical awareness, technical ability, physical attributes, attitude, and general potential. High-performing individuals may receive recommendations for professional trials.

The tournament aims to build a reliable pathway for young footballers to secure contracts, scholarships, and trial opportunities. It also seeks to foster player development, discipline, and sportsmanship while building links between local talent and international football stakeholders. This connection is intended to help African players access professional roles in Europe and elsewhere.

Media coverage will include radio broadcasts, social media updates, digital platforms, sports bloggers, and video recordings of the matches. At the conclusion of the tournament, awards will be given to the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Top Goal Scorer, alongside recognition for the champions and runners-up.

Organizers are currently inviting partnerships from sponsors, scouting organizations, academies, clubs, and development partners. The initiative intends to become a primary scouting platform in Africa dedicated to the identification and growth of the next generation of football talent.
