Trippier targets immediate promotion for Wolves

Kieran Trippier has stated that Wolves must aim for an immediate return to the Premier League as they prepare for their Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers this Friday. The right-back believes the club needs to adopt a mindset focused on promotion to ensure they move forward positively after last season.

Trippier, who joined the club from Newcastle United, dismissed recent rumours suggesting he was considering leaving Molineux. He described the claims that he intended to terminate his contract as nonsense and paper talk, noting that he has no regrets about his decision to join the club.

The experienced defender highlighted the importance of a mental reset following the club's relegation. He noted that the squad must forget previous difficulties and focus on the relentless nature of the Championship, where matches are played frequently and no opponent is easy to beat.

Having played in the division for many years, Trippier is using his experience to assist teammates who have not previously competed in the league. He mentioned that he and players such as Tommy Doyle and Adam Armstrong are helping the squad understand the challenges of a 46-game season.

Trippier also commented on the transition to a new manager, expressing support for the current leadership and the work method in place. He noted that while the club has seen changes, the environment at Wolves has been welcoming since his arrival.
