Peixoto says Wolves are ready to attack the Championship

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto believes his squad is prepared to compete in the Championship following a productive pre-season. The Portuguese manager is set to lead the club in their first second-tier campaign in nine years, starting with a home fixture against Blackburn Rovers on Friday.

Peixoto stated that the team has worked hard during their preparations and that the players understand his tactical requirements. He noted that while the characteristics of English football differ from Portugal, the coaching staff has spent time observing and analysing the division to prepare for the challenges ahead.

The manager highlighted tactical adjustments made during the summer, including changes to set-piece routines. He explained that the team aims to be offensive and react strongly when losing possession, but he also emphasised the need for defensive organisation. This includes the ability to switch between a high press, a mid-block, and a deep defensive structure depending on the match situation.

Regarding individual players, Peixoto identified Raul as a vital leader and a key goalscorer for the club. He noted that the player requires more time to reach full fitness after returning late from the World Cup, but expects him to be a significant influence throughout the season.

Looking at the long-term objectives, Peixoto said the primary goal for the club is to achieve promotion. He suggested that if the team maintains its organisation and works as a single unit involving the players, staff, and fans, they can finish the season in the top positions of the league table.
