Ademola Lookman praises Atletico Madrid fan support
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has reflected on the intense atmosphere and passionate supporters at Atletico Madrid during his first months.
Ademola Lookman has spoken about the impact of the Atletico Madrid supporters following his arrival at the club. The Nigerian forward described the energy provided by the fans as a revelation during his initial period with the Spanish side.
Lookman noted the scale of the support, highlighting the crowds of 65,000 to 70,000 people attending matches. He mentioned that the atmosphere and the energy behind the stadium are unique experiences he had not encountered before. The striker also recalled being surprised by the large number of fans waiting for the team at the airport in Seville.
He explained that the dedication of the supporters, including those who travel from Madrid to support the team in other cities, provides him with increased energy and desire. The forward believes this level of passion is what makes the club special.
Since joining from Atalanta in a €35 million winter transfer, Lookman has integrated into the squad. He scored on his debut during a 5-0 Copa del Rey quarterfinal victory against Real Betis. He concluded his first half-season with nine goals and four assists in all competitions, which included scoring in the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad before an injury forced him off the pitch.
As the club prepares for the 2026-27 season, the 28-year-old is entering his first full campaign with the team. He has already scored in a pre-season victory over Getafe. His role at the club may expand following the departure of Antoine Griezmann to Orlando City in Major League Soccer.
