Alex Asamoah says he can play for five more years

Former Asante Kotoko striker Alex Asamoah has stated that he intends to continue his professional football career for at least another five years. The 40-year-old forward is currently a free agent and is looking to secure a new club.

Despite a period without competitive matches, Asamoah maintains that he is physically fit and continues to train. He expressed readiness to accept offers from any club that approaches him, noting that he is open to opportunities even as the Ghana transfer window approaches its close in a few weeks.

Asamoah's career began in 2002 with Berekum Arsenal before he moved to Ashantigold in 2005. His goalscoring during a three-year stint with the Miners led to a move to Asante Kotoko in 2008. While playing for the Porcupine Warriors, he secured the Ghana Premier League Golden Boot by scoring 16 goals.

Following his success in the domestic league, the striker moved abroad to play for South Korean club Gyeongnam FC on loan and later joined Algerian side ES Sétif. He eventually returned to Ghana for a second period with Ashantigold and later played for Aduana FC.

Although he has been away from competitive action for a duration, the veteran striker remains focused on extending his playing days. He acknowledged that while people may doubt his abilities due to his age and recent absence, he believes he can remain active for several more seasons.
