Alvarez and Simeone hold private talks over summer transfer

The discussion focused on the striker's uncertain future as the summer transfer window approaches its end.

Alvarez, known as 'La Araña', has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer. During the World Cup, the forward expressed a desire for honesty regarding his situation. He stated that he believes a transfer would be the best outcome for all parties involved because he wants to achieve his dream.

Despite these comments, Atletico Madrid remains firm in its decision to keep the player. The club hierarchy, including CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin, has maintained that the 2022 World Cup winner is not for sale. Simeone's position aligns with this stance, as the club views the striker as a fundamental component of their upcoming project.

Last season, Alvarez was a central figure for the team, recording 20 goals and nine assists in 49 total appearances. The club's refusal to sell has intensified as his representatives have been present in Madrid. Leadership has effectively closed ranks to protect the squad's stability.

Losing the forward would be difficult for the team, especially following an injury to Alexander Sorloth. The absence of Sorloth makes Alvarez even more vital to Simeone's tactical plans. Atletico Madrid is currently preparing for their La Liga season opener against Malaga on August 19.
