AmaZulu captain confident ahead of competitive PSL 2026 season
AmaZulu sit third in the 2026 PSL with seven points from three matches, as their captain expects a competitive season ahead.
AmaZulu have taken seven points from their opening three matches in the 2026 South African Premier Soccer League, leaving them third in the table. The Durban club have won twice, drawn once and remain unbeaten, with four goals scored and one conceded.
That start has strengthened the confidence of AmaZulu’s captain, who believes the team can remain competitive throughout the season. The early record gives that view a clear foundation, although the campaign remains at an early stage with only three league fixtures completed.
AmaZulu’s recent results show a mixed sequence around their unbeaten league opening. They began with a 1-0 away victory over Durban City, before losing 1-0 at home to Kaizer Chiefs. A goalless draw followed away against Orbit College, then another 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows.
The side returned to winning form with a 5-1 victory over Chippa United. That result is the largest margin in the recent sequence and takes AmaZulu’s total to two wins, two draws and one defeat across those five matches. Their current league figures remain more important for the table: seven points, four goals for and one against.
AmaZulu’s next test will come against Mamelodi Sundowns on 26 August 2026. The fixture will offer an early measure of how their positive start holds against one of the league’s leading sides, while also giving the captain and his team an opportunity to maintain their position near the top of the standings.
For now, AmaZulu’s unbeaten league record and narrow defensive concession provide the basis for the captain’s optimism. Their challenge is to turn the opening return into sustained form as the 2026 PSL season progresses.
