Arsenal concluded their pre-season preparations on Wednesday night with a 1-1 draw against Como. The match ended with the Gunners winning a penalty shoot-out 4-3.
The Premier League champions took the lead during the first half of the encounter. Myles Lewis-Skelly found the back of the net after reacting to a loose pass in the opposition area to give his side the advantage.
Como managed to level the scoreline before the players went into the halftime break. Martin Baturina moved into the penalty area and struck a powerful shot that flew high into the roof of the net to make it 1-1.
After the regulation time ended in a stalemate, the sides moved to a penalty shoot-out to decide a winner. Arsenal were successful in the spot-kicks, winning the shootout 4-3.
Mikel Arteta's squad now shifts focus to competitive fixtures. The team will travel to Wembley this Sunday to face Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Following the Community Shield, Arsenal will begin their campaign to defend their league title. Their first Premier League match takes place next Friday at home against Coventry.
