Aston Villa target Kim Min-jae alongside Joao Palhinha

Aston Villa have expanded their interest in Bayern Munich players to include centre-back Kim Min-jae after pursuing midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Aston Villa have identified a second Bayern Munich player as a transfer target. The Premier League side is now pursuing centre-back Kim Min-jae in addition to their ongoing efforts to sign midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Interest in the 29-year-old South Korean defender has been active for several weeks. Villa officials reportedly made initial informal enquiries with Kim's representatives during the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. While the player was focused on the tournament at that time, the club has continued its pursuit.

Recent interest was renewed following Kim's performance in a match against Bayern Munich in Asia, where he scored the opening goal. Villa officials were reportedly impressed by his display. While Nottingham Forest also made enquiries regarding the defender, Kim turned down their proposal.

Securing a deal may prove difficult as Bayern Munich's stance on the player has changed. Although Kim was on the transfer list last summer, a sale is no longer currently planned. This shift follows the growing confidence shown by Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.

Kompany has praised the defender's speed and defensive capabilities, describing him as a "defensive monster." The manager noted that Kim's performances have been top-notch and highlighted his professional conduct on the pitch. These sentiments suggest the German club is not currently looking to facilitate an exit.
