Bath hold talks over Reading venue for final two Premiership games

Bath are in discussions about staging their final two home Premiership matches next season at Reading’s Select Car Leasing Stadium. The move would take the fixtures away from the Recreation Ground while redevelopment work begins at Bath’s traditional home.

No agreement has been announced, so Reading remains a possible venue rather than a confirmed destination. The talks involve Bath and Reading, the League One club that operates the stadium.

Reading owner Rob Couhig said the two clubs had discussed the proposal. He also indicated that the stadium has the facilities required to host Bath’s matches and that Reading would be keen to pursue the opportunity.

For Bath, the plan would allow construction work to start before the end of the Premiership season. Their last two home fixtures would therefore be played away from the Recreation Ground, although they would still count as Bath home games.

The proposed arrangement would give Reading the chance to stage top-level rugby at a ground currently used by its League One football team. Select Car Leasing Stadium is the location being considered for both matches.

Couhig became Reading’s owner in May 2025. The discussions with Bath are part of the early work around the possible venue switch, with the final decision still outstanding.
