Betika backs Ntugasaze FC with Shs100m for Uganda Premier League

Betika Uganda has committed Shs100 million to Ntugasaze FC as the newly promoted club prepares for its first Uganda Premier League campaign. The partnership will also fund a Shs150,000 Player of the Match award after each of the club’s league fixtures.

The agreement was announced on August 19 at Kira Road Police Grounds, which Ntugasaze will use as its home venue during the 2026/27 season. The package covers player recognition, supporter activities, digital content and other matchday programmes.

Ntugasaze earned promotion after finishing second in the 2025/26 FUFA Big League. The club collected 53 points from 30 matches, securing a place in Uganda’s top division for the first time since its formation.

Founded in 2018 by sports entrepreneur Yossam Ntegereze, Ntugasaze began as a recreational side for employees of Imana Yera Company. It has since moved through Uganda’s league structure and now faces the demands of top-flight football.

Betika said the club’s quick progress, leadership and community base were factors in its decision to provide support. The company’s marketing lead, Desire Akanduhura, said the partnership was designed to assist the club’s longer-term development as well as improve engagement with players and supporters.

Ntugasaze chief executive Brian Ogwang Bob described the promotion as the product of sustained work from everyone involved with the club. FUFA Club Licensing Committee chairman Jeremiah Mugerwa said the team had met all participation requirements and had been placed in Category One.

The financial backing arrives as Ntugasaze adapts to the operational and competitive demands of the Premier League. It gives the club resources for activities around its matches while providing individual recognition for players during its maiden top-flight season.
