BKFC and featherweight contender James Brown mutually part ways

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and fighter James Brown have mutually agreed to end their contractual relationship. The organization confirmed the departure through a press release, stating that moving in separate directions is the correct step for the promotion's growth.

Brown, known as 'Get Down' Brown, was previously ranked as the number four featherweight contender within the promotion. His departure follows a tenure of over three and a half years. The organization noted that the decision aligns with its goal to build a roster of highly marketable and entertaining fighters.

Responding to the news, Brown stated that the move was not motivated by money or a desire to leave the organization behind. He explained that his priority is maintaining high activity levels and finding a clear path to compete for a world championship. Brown emphasized that there is no ill will toward BKFC and that the choice was strictly a career decision to ensure he can continue testing himself against top competition.

Brown's time in the promotion included a significant run of success. He began his career with three consecutive wins, including a unanimous decision over Stevo Morris, followed by stoppage victories against Mike Alvarado and Bovar Khanakov. His only loss in the organization came in September 2024 against Howard 'HD' Davis.

He concluded his time with the promotion on a high note, securing two victories in 2025 against Ramiro Figueroa and Dan Chapman. Both wins were notable as they handed the first bare-knuckle losses to previously unbeaten opponents. However, Brown has not competed in a professional bout since his win over Chapman in October.
