Blacks Power sign veteran defender Bashir Asiku from Calvary FC

Blacks Power have brought in experienced centre-back Bashir Asiku from Calvary FC as they strengthen their defence before the new season.

Blacks Power have completed the signing of veteran defender Bashir Asiku from Calvary FC, adding experience to their defence ahead of the new season. The Lira-based club, also known as the Black Warriors, confirmed the move on Tuesday.

Asiku arrives with previous Uganda Premier League experience from spells at Vipers SC and Express FC. The centre-back has also recently played for Calvary FC, a West Nile club competing in the FUFA Big League.

His time at Calvary helped re-establish him as a dependable defender in the second tier. Asiku is known for his physical strength and his ability to impose himself in defensive situations, qualities that Blacks Power believe will improve their options at the back.

The new signing is also expected to contribute to the organisation of the defence. His aerial ability and authority inside the penalty area are viewed as important additions for a team seeking greater stability across its back line.

Blacks Power’s decision to recruit Asiku follows a campaign in which defensive shortcomings cost the club important points. The club hopes his experience and tactical maturity can help address those problems as preparations for the new season continue.

Asiku has already joined the squad for pre-season training. His arrival forms part of Blacks Power’s effort to build a side capable of making a sustained challenge for promotion to Uganda’s top flight.
