Brighton and City Football Group eye Boca Juniors star Leonel Flores

Brighton and City Football Group have both expressed interest in Boca Juniors forward Leonel Flores. The 19-year-old attacker is reportedly being monitored by the owners of both clubs, though no formal offers have been submitted at this stage.

Flores has emerged as a significant talent for Boca Juniors following the World Cup break. The player, who can play across the attack but primarily operates from the right, is noted for his acceleration and ability to engage defenders in one-on-one situations. He uses his quickness and improvisation to drive at markers, either attacking the byline or cutting inside onto his right foot.

The teenager has been part of the Boca Juniors academy since 2014. After progressing through the youth ranks, he found success in the reserve team, including a four-goal performance against Aldosivi. Following a period of lost ground in early 2026, he regained form by scoring against River Plate in the reserves, which led to his promotion to the senior squad.

His transition to senior football has been productive. Flores scored against Sarmiento during his professional debut in the Copa Argentina and has since become a regular option for manager Arruabarrena. His development is protected by a contract that runs until December 2029.

Any potential move for the player would likely involve a release clause estimated at €13m (£11.3m). This figure provides a clear valuation for interested parties like Brighton and City Football Group, both of whom have a history of investing in young South American players.
