Bullets, Silver held as Civo claim 1-0 FDH Bank Premiership win

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers drew 0-0, while Civo Services United beat MAFCO 1-0 to boost their survival hopes.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers were both held to 0-0 draws, while Civo Services United earned a 1-0 victory over MAFCO as the FDH Bank Premiership’s title and survival battles tightened on Sunday.

Bullets could not break down Luanar Mitundu FC at Dedza Stadium. The result extended a difficult spell for the champions, whose attack has now failed to produce a breakthrough for a second consecutive week. Luanar’s organised defence secured a valuable point against one of the leading teams.

Silver Strikers also dropped points at home, drawing 0-0 with Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at Silver Stadium. The result leaves Silver level with Mighty Wanderers on 29 points, with goal aggregate the only factor separating the two sides at the summit. Their failure to win adds further pressure to a title race that remains open as the first round approaches its conclusion.

At the other end of the standings, Civo’s victory over Salima-based MAFCO at Civo Stadium carried greater significance than a routine three-point gain. Civo have spent much of the season battling relegation, and the win gives their survival campaign renewed substance. MAFCO, meanwhile, left without taking anything from the fixture.

Karonga United and Chitipa United also shared the points, drawing 1-1 in their northern derby. Neither side managed to take local bragging rights, adding another stalemate to a weekend in which several teams failed to create separation from their rivals.

The results underline the competitive pressure across the Premiership, with established contenders struggling to convert their opportunities and lower-ranked sides continuing to take points. The financial rewards have added importance to every position: the champions are due K200 million, the runners-up K100 million and the third-placed side K75 million. With the first round nearing its end, the 29-point tie at the top and Civo’s push for survival reflect the uncertainty at both ends of the table.
