Burnley, Wrexham vie for Ghana winger Rak-Sakyi before deadline

Burnley and Wrexham are competing for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, with the 23-year-old’s future to be decided before September 1.

Burnley and Wrexham are competing for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi as the September 1 transfer deadline approaches. The 23-year-old Ghana international has attracted interest from both Championship clubs.

Burnley have identified Rak-Sakyi as a possible addition to their attacking options. The club are looking to improve their choices in the final third and regard his experience in the second tier as an important part of his appeal.

Rak-Sakyi spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Sheffield United. He then continued his Championship experience with Stoke City, giving him spells at two clubs in the division before returning to Palace.

Wrexham are also tracking the winger and have become direct rivals to Burnley in the pursuit of his signature. Their interest leaves Rak-Sakyi with two Championship options as the window moves into its closing stages.

The winger’s international profile has increased after he made his senior Ghana debut in a friendly against Mexico before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. That appearance marked his first step towards establishing a regular place in the Black Stars squad.

Rak-Sakyi remains contracted to Crystal Palace, meaning his immediate future is still in the hands of the Selhurst Park club. The growing attention from Burnley and Wrexham could prompt Palace to determine whether he will leave temporarily or remain part of their plans as the deadline nears.
