Cameroun beat Morocco on penalties to reach WAFCON 2026 final

Cameroun progressed to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 final after defeating hosts Morocco 3-1 on penalties. The match, held at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday night, remained goalless through both regulation and extra time.

Goalkeeper Michaely Bihina was the decisive figure in the victory for the Central African side. The 22-year-old goalkeeper kept the score level during the final stages of play by denying Fatima Tagnaout from the 12-yard mark in the 118th minute. This save ensured that the match remained scoreless after 120 minutes of play.

Bihina continued her dominant performance during the penalty shootout. She successfully saved efforts from Kenza Chappelle, Maryame Atiq, and Sakina Ouzraoui. These saves left the home crowd in silence as Morocco lost the chance to advance.

Cameroun secured their place in the final when teenage defender Maryam Nyadjou converted the decisive penalty. Her successful strike completed the 3-1 shootout victory and confirmed Cameroun's advancement to the championship match.

Cameroun will now compete for the title against Malawi. The Scorchers secured their spot in the final by defeating Algeria 3-1 in the other semi-final. This victory represented the first time Malawi has ever reached a WAFCON final.
