Camila Zamorano retains WBC Atom title after 98-92 decision
Camila Zamorano beat Perla Pérez by unanimous decision in San Luis Potosí, making a third defense of her WBC atomweight world title.
Camila Zamorano retained her WBC atomweight world title by unanimous decision over Perla Pérez after 10 rounds in San Luis Potosí. The judges scored the contest 97-93, 98-92 and 98-92 in favour of the 18-year-old Mexican champion.
The victory came in the main event of “México, Tierra de Victorias” at Arena Potosí. Zamorano controlled the official scoring across all three cards as she defeated her compatriot in the championship bout.
The result marked Zamorano’s third successful world-title defence. It was also her first defence outside Sonora and Hermosillo, where she had previously fought as champion.
Zamorano had earlier kept the belt against Japan’s Sana Hazuki in October 2025 and Argentina’s Claudia Verónica Ruiz in February 2026. Her latest win extends that run of successful defences against opponents from three different countries.
Zamorano entered the bout with an unbeaten 15-0 record and one knockout. Pérez came in with a 9-10-1 record and one knockout, and the unanimous cards gave Zamorano a clear result over the 10-round distance.
The champion’s performance strengthens her standing as a leading candidate for fighter of the year. For Pérez, the defeat came in a world-title challenge against the unbeaten holder, who remains in possession of the WBC atomweight championship.
