Carl Froch picks Amir Khan to beat Conor Benn in fantasy fight
Former champion Carl Froch believes Amir Khan's speed and skill would have seen him defeat Conor Benn in a hypothetical welterweight matchup.
Carl Froch has predicted that Amir Khan would defeat Conor Benn in a hypothetical contest between the two fighters at welterweight. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the four-time super-middleweight world champion stated that Khan would win the fight "every single day."
Froch argued that Khan's technical ability and speed would be the deciding factors against Benn. He noted that the former Olympic silver medallist possessed a level of skill and quickness that would likely prove too difficult for Benn to handle.
Amir Khan's career included significant success as a super-lightweight, where he captured the WBA title. During that period, he defended his championship against Paulie Malignaggi and Marcos Maidana before securing a unification victory via knockout against Zab Judah.
Khan's final attempt at a world title occurred in 2019 during a WBC welterweight championship bout against Terence Crawford. He lost that contest following a sixth-round stoppage, marking the end of his pursuit of world titles.
Conor Benn is currently preparing to face Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas on September 12 at the T-Mobile Arena. While Benn was previously named a mandatory challenger for Garcia's title upon his return to the 147lb division, he has indicated that this welterweight fight will be his final appearance at that weight.
Following the bout with Garcia, Benn intends to move up to either the middleweight or super-welterweight divisions. He has not competed at the welterweight limit since April 2022.
