Chia Ching Hung faces Alan Alberca in Manila eight-round bout

Taiwan’s Chia Ching Hung will meet local favourite Alan Alberca in an eight-round super-featherweight fight in Manila on Sunday.

Taiwan’s Chia Ching Hung will face the Philippines’ Alan Alberca in an eight-round super-featherweight bout in Manila on Sunday, August 30. The fight is scheduled for the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque City, Metro Manila.

Hung enters the contest with a 9-1-1 professional record and seven wins inside the distance. He is regarded as Taiwan’s leading professional boxer and will be fighting outside his home country once again against Alberca, a local favourite with a 13-10 record and six knockouts.

The Manila appearance will mark Hung’s fourth professional fight in a different country. His career has already included a WBC Asia title, although that achievement was followed by a period away from competition.

Hung joined Samuel Lee’s SJL Fighter Management around a year ago. Sunday’s bout will be his third fight since beginning that partnership, as he works to build momentum after the interruption to his career.

Professional boxing in Taiwan has a relatively short history, but Hung has continued pursuing a place at the top of the sport. His stated ambition is to become the first male boxer from Taiwan to win a world title, and the meeting with Alberca represents another step in that pursuit.
