Coventry weigh move for Chelsea’s England-Ghana defender Josh Acheampong

Coventry are weighing a move for Chelsea right-back Josh Acheampong, with the 20-year-old defender valued at €25 million. No agreement has been reached and there is no indication that formal negotiations are under way.

Acheampong remains contracted to Chelsea until 30 June 2029, leaving the London club with the player tied down on a long-term deal. The defender has made 22 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and has scored once.

The London-born player joined Chelsea’s first team from the Under-21 side in December 2024 after progressing through the club’s academy. He has since gained experience in several senior competitions, including the Champions League, Conference League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Acheampong was part of the Chelsea squad that won the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. He also received a Conference League winners’ medal after Chelsea’s success in the 2024-25 campaign.

A move to Coventry would give the club an opportunity to pursue a young defender with first-team experience at Chelsea and exposure to European and domestic competition. The available details, however, only identify Coventry as interested in the player and do not confirm that a deal is close.
