IASC Above45: Nwampa inspires Sure B Homes to 3-1 third-place win
Chief Tommy Nwampa scored and assisted as Sure B Homes beat Cartel Beach 3-1 to finish third in the IASC Above45 tournament.
Sure B Homes defeated Cartel Beach 3-1 to take third place in the Island All Stars Sports Club International Above-45 Football Tournament, with Chief Tommy Nwampa scoring once and setting up another goal. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
Sure B Homes made the stronger start and went ahead in the 16th minute. Dennis converted from the penalty spot to give his side the lead before Nwampa extended the advantage 11 minutes later with a header.
The veteran forward had been unable to convert an earlier chance, but he made the second opportunity count. His finish drew comparisons with Lionel Messi’s headed goal in the 2009 Champions League final against Manchester United.
Arthur added Sure B Homes’ third goal after the interval, putting the result beyond Cartel Beach’s reach. Cartel still found a response when Jokesman scored from distance, although the scorer later left the field with an injury.
The victory gave Sure B Homes a strong finish after their previous match had not gone as planned. Nwampa linked the improvement to the return of several players who had missed that game because of festivities, allowing the team to perform with greater strength in the third-place fixture.
Nwampa also credited his preparation for his display. Beyond the goal and assist, he said his contribution included helping the team in other areas, while the result offered Sure B Homes a positive conclusion to their tournament campaign.
