Destiny Udogie gives Roma green light for Tottenham exit

Destiny Udogie has given a firm yes to a potential move to AS Roma. The Tottenham left-back is interested in returning to Italy, prompting the Giallorossi to begin work on a formal offer.

Roma are looking to strengthen their wing-back options under manager Gian Piero Gasperini. The club has already secured Nahuel Molina on a permanent deal from Atletico Madrid to replace Zeki Celik, who moved to Juventus following the expiry of his contract. While Roma have also identified Inter Milan's Luis Henrique as a target, they face difficulties securing his signature because the player is not keen on the move. This contrasts with Udogie, who has shown immediate willingness to join the project in Rome.

Negotiations regarding the transfer fee remain a central hurdle. Tottenham have reportedly sought a fee of €30m for the 23-year-old, though some reports suggest the asking price could be as low as €25m. Roma are expected to structure an initial loan deal that includes an option to buy. This approach follows their recent attempt to sign Luis Henrique for €28m via a similar loan structure.

Tottenham's position on the sale is complicated by their current squad changes. The club is set to lose Djed Spence to Inter Milan, which reduces their immediate need to sell further full-back depth. Furthermore, the valuation for Udogie may exceed the €30m mark, making a deal difficult to finalize.

Udogie was a significant figure for Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi during the previous campaign.
