
Dolphins lose 77-40 to Victoria Queens in Zenith Bank League
Defending champions Dolphins suffered their second defeat in four games after Victoria Queens dominated them in the Atlantic Conference first phase.
Dolphins suffered their second defeat in four games in the Zenith Bank/Nigeria Basketball Federation Women League, losing 77-40 to Victoria Queens in the Atlantic Conference first phase in Lagos.
The defending champions struggled throughout the Day 4 meeting at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere. Victoria Queens controlled the contest from the opening quarter and maintained their advantage through all four periods.
The result leaves Dolphins with two defeats from their four games in the phase. They opened with a 59-46 loss to First Deep Water, then fell 58-28 to Bayelsa Blue Whales before recovering to beat IGP Queens 58-43.
Victoria Queens improved to three wins in four games. Their other victories came against IGP Queens and Bayelsa Blue Whales, while their only defeat so far was against MFM.
First Bank also preserved their perfect record in Lagos on Wednesday, defeating Bayelsa Blue Whales 50-39 for a fourth victory. IGP Queens remained without a win after Royal Aces edged them 57-53.
In the Savannah Conference, Customs Women Basketball team and Air Warriors have both won every game they have played. Customs began with a 62-51 victory over Titans and followed it with a 72-40 win against Nasarawa Amazons.
The Savannah Conference fixture list was changed after Kada Angels and Ham Warriors withdrew from the first phase. Six teams now remain in the conference.
