Uganda National Basketball League 2026: Namuwongo Blazers beat Oilers 82-64
Namuwongo Blazers defeated defending champions City Oilers 82-64 in Game Six to level the 2026 Uganda NBL Finals at 3-3.
Namuwongo Blazers defeated City Oilers 82-64 in Game Six of the 2026 National Basketball League Men’s Finals on Wednesday. The victory levelled the series at 3-3 and set up a decisive seventh game for the championship on Saturday.
The Blazers controlled the contest at Lugogo Indoor Arena after a closely fought opening period. City Oilers responded to Namuwongo’s early attacks, but Joel Kayira’s late contribution in the first quarter gave the Blazers a narrow advantage before their performance took a decisive turn.
Namuwongo found greater rhythm in the second quarter, moving the ball effectively and creating openings against the Oilers’ defence. Tonny Drileba directed the offence as the Blazers turned a tight contest into a substantial lead before the interval.
Namuwongo led 14-12 after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 45-29 at half-time. The teams scored 19 points each in the third quarter, but that exchange did little to change the game’s direction. The Blazers ultimately finished 18 points clear.
Peter Obleng produced a game-high 22 points for Namuwongo, while Nyembo Fataki added 18 and Henry Ssebagala scored 15. Drileba completed a double-double with 11 assists and 11 rebounds, and Fataki added an important late burst that included a dunk as the lead reached 18 points with two minutes remaining.
City Oilers were led by Jonathan Komagum, who recorded 18 points and 13 rebounds. Patrick Rembert contributed 14 points and Fayed Baale scored 11, but the defending champions could not reduce the deficit after Namuwongo’s second-quarter surge. The teams will now meet again on Saturday, when one victory will decide the league title.
