Edvin Austbø expresses interest in West Ham after rejected bid

Viking FK winger Edvin Austbø has expressed interest in a move to West Ham United after the English club's recent transfer bid was rejected. The 21-year-old described the Premier League side as a cool club and confirmed he is interested in the potential move.

West Ham recently submitted a proposal worth NKK 100m, approximately €9.1m, to secure the Norwegian attacker. Viking FK turned down the offer because they considered the valuation too low. There have been no further discussions between the two clubs, and it remains unclear if West Ham will submit an improved bid.

Austbø, who has recorded 17 goals and 13 assists in 75 appearances for Viking FK, stated that he is aware of the ongoing developments. He noted that while he will not force a departure from his current club, he would be open to accepting a fair deal if an agreement is reached between the clubs. The player has already informed Viking FK management of his desire to move on to the next stage of his career.

Currently under contract with Viking FK until December 2028, the winger is seeking a club with high ambitions and a clear development plan. He emphasized that he is not a finished player and wants to ensure his next move allows him to play regularly rather than being part of the crowd. He expressed confidence in his ability to compete for a place in any team he joins.

Austbø remains in constant dialogue with his club's management regarding the interest from West Ham and other European sides. He noted that while he is not impatient, he does not intend to wait another three years before seeking a new challenge.
