FAZ appoints Red Arrows chief Lungu as national teams General Manager

FAZ has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Kambani Ronald Lungu as General Manager for National Teams, with the Red Arrows chief starting immediately.

The Football Association of Zambia has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Kambani Ronald Lungu as its General Manager for National Teams. He takes up the position with immediate effect as FAZ works to improve the coordination and administration of its national-team programmes.

Lungu arrives from Zambian Premier League club Red Arrows, where he is the chief executive officer. He previously served as the club’s team manager, giving him experience in both the operational and administrative sides of football.

His football management background also includes a spell on the executive committee of Power Dynamos. FAZ is assigning him responsibility for working with the association’s technical and administrative teams across all levels of the national-team structure.

The association expects the appointment to improve the support available to its national teams and strengthen the systems used to run them. Lungu’s duties will cover the coordination needed to keep the teams’ operations functioning smoothly.

FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said Lungu’s experience in football administration would benefit the national-team set-up. Chakatazya added that the new manager would have an important role in ensuring the teams are properly coordinated and supported.

Lungu succeeds Chakatazya in the position. Chakatazya held the General Manager for National Teams role before his recent appointment as FAZ General Secretary, creating the vacancy now filled by the Red Arrows executive.
