Ferran Torres misses Barcelona training for PSG transfer

Ferran Torres has been excused from Barcelona training sessions to finalise a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. The Spanish forward was expected to rejoin his teammates on Wednesday, but he will instead focus on completing the move to the French side.

The transfer comes as Torres enters the final year of his contract with the Catalan club. During a media tour in the United States following Spain's recent World Cup victory, the 26-year-old indicated that his future remained uncertain despite his current deal. He noted that situations in football can change rapidly and that he must remain prepared for any developments.

Torres played a significant role in Spain's second World Cup triumph this summer, scoring the winning goal in extra time against Argentina. He has recorded 25 goals in 65 appearances for the Spanish national team. His move to PSG would see him join a squad managed by Luis Enrique, a former player and coach at Barcelona.

The potential deal is expected to exceed £40m. This development occurs as PSG prepare to face Aston Villa in the Super Cup final in Salzburg on Wednesday night. The French club is also managing potential departures, including forward Bradley Barcola, who is a target for Liverpool.

Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after a two-year stint at Manchester City. His absence from training follows period of speculation regarding his departure, which has caused frustration among some supporters.
