Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Sochima agrees Shooting Stars NPFL move

Victor Sochima has agreed a one-year move to Shooting Stars, with the former Super Eagles goalkeeper set to return to the NPFL.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Victor Sochima has agreed to join Shooting Stars on a one-year contract. The NPFL side finished third in 2026 with 60 points from 38 matches, recording 18 wins, six draws and 14 defeats.

Sochima is set to return to Nigeria’s top flight after last playing in the NPFL for Rivers United during the 2021-22 season. He helped the Port Harcourt club win the league title that campaign, adding a major achievement to his domestic career.

The goalkeeper spent last season with Zesco United in Zambia. His proposed move would bring an experienced option to Shooting Stars as the Oluyole Warriors prepare for another campaign in the domestic league.

Shooting Stars ended the 2026 season with 41 goals scored and 40 conceded. Their recent run included victories over Barau FC, Nasarawa United and El Kanemi Warriors, alongside a defeat by Niger Tornadoes and a goalless draw against Kwara United.

Sochima has also received an invitation to the Super Eagles in the past. His return to the NPFL would therefore reconnect him with the league where he previously won the championship and last played four seasons ago.

Shooting Stars are scheduled to host Inter Lagos on August 28 in their next listed NPFL fixture. The move for Sochima is close as the club continues from a third-place finish in the 2026 standings.
