FPL Nigeria: How to play Fantasy Premier League in 2026/27
Nigerian fans can join FPL for the 2026/27 Premier League season with a £100m squad, weekly selections, captains, transfers and chips.
Nigerian football fans can enter the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season by registering on the official FPL website and building a team from Premier League players. The new Premier League campaign begins later today, giving managers the chance to compete with friends and players worldwide.
Each manager receives a £100 million budget for a 15-player squad. The required structure is two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards. Eleven players are selected to start each gameweek, while four remain on the bench unless a chip brings them into the scoring team.
Managers must choose their starting XI before every deadline, as well as a captain and vice captain. The captain scores twice the normal points, while the vice captain assumes that role if the selected captain does not play. The deadline is normally 90 minutes before the first Premier League fixture of the gameweek.
FPL points come from events in real Premier League matches. Goals and assists are key sources, while defenders and goalkeepers can benefit from clean sheets. Goalkeepers may also collect points for saves, and players can receive additional bonus points for their performances. Transfers and team selections therefore need to be managed around likely involvement and output.
The game provides eight chips during the season. Four are available in the first half of the campaign, and the remaining four become available after the Gameweek 19 deadline on January 2. The first group must be used before the season reaches its second half and cannot be carried forward.
The Triple Captain gives a captain three times his normal points. Free Hit permits unlimited changes for one gameweek before the squad returns to its previous form, while Wildcard allows unlimited permanent transfers without a penalty. Bench Boost counts points from all 15 players, including the substitutes, and each chip can be used only once in a gameweek.
Several Nigerians could attract attention in FPL. Taiwo Awoniyi may be considered after moving from Nottingham Forest to Coventry City, while Fulham defender Calvin Bassey offers potential through defensive and attacking contributions. Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina could also gain value if his expected wingback role brings greater attacking involvement alongside clean-sheet opportunities.
