Getafe support Christantus Uche through rehabilitation after surgery
Getafe have pledged full medical and rehabilitation support to Nigeria forward Christantus Uche after knee surgery in Lyon.
Getafe have pledged their full support to Christantus Uche after the Nigeria international underwent surgery in Lyon for a knee injury. The club’s management, technical staff and doctors will guide the 23-year-old centre-forward through his rehabilitation.
Uche suffered the injury during Getafe’s pre-season friendly against AS Monaco on August 6. The problem was described as serious, and the operation was carried out in France before the player began the next stage of his recovery.
The procedure was conducted under the supervision of Getafe medical chief Dr Christofer Oyola and the club’s head of physiotherapy, Álvaro García Zudaire. Their involvement will continue as Uche follows the rehabilitation programme designed to help him regain full fitness.
Getafe have committed the medical support and resources required for the recovery process. The club’s message reflects its backing for the player as he works towards a return to action, although no timetable for that return has been provided.
Uche is a Nigerian player whose current club is Getafe. He spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, after joining Getafe from AD Ceuta during the 2024/25 campaign. Before his spell in Spain’s top flight, he played for Moralo CP.
The injury interrupts Uche’s progress after his move through Spanish football and subsequent experience in England. For now, his focus is rehabilitation under Getafe’s supervision, with the club’s doctors and management supporting his recovery from the knee problem.
