GFA unveils One Player, Three Football policy at 32nd Congress
Ghana’s football association will give registered players three footballs each season for four years under a new national development policy.
The Ghana Football Association has introduced its Triple Ball Development Policy, under which registered players will receive three footballs every season for four years. The initiative, also called the One Player, Three Football policy, was announced at the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Congress in Prampram.
GFA president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku presented the policy as a major intervention aimed at improving player development throughout Ghana’s football structure. Distribution will be managed through the players’ clubs, ensuring the equipment reaches those registered in the competitions covered by the programme.
The policy applies to players in the Ghana Premier League, Division One League, women’s football, the regional leagues and Colts football. Its reach therefore extends from the top levels of the domestic game to youth football, rather than limiting support to established professional players.
The programme is designed to improve access to footballs for training and personal practice. The GFA expects regular possession of suitable equipment to encourage players to practise more often, strengthen their technical skills and continue their development outside organised sessions.
Its four-year duration is intended to provide clubs and players with consistent access to footballs instead of relying on occasional equipment deliveries. The approach also places the emphasis on a basic requirement of development: having a ball available for players to use.
Simeon-Okraku said the initiative had received support from Members of Parliament, corporate institutions and the diplomatic community. The policy forms part of the GFA’s wider Power to the Youth programme, which is focused on building stronger and more sustainable routes for young Ghanaian footballers.
