Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo nears reported $10m Al-Swehly deal

Kwasi Sibo, 28, is considering a two-year contract package worth about $10 million from Libyan club Al-Swehly. The Ghanaian central midfielder is currently without a club after leaving Spanish side Real Oviedo.

Sibo has travelled to Egypt, where Al-Swehly are conducting their pre-season camp. He is due to meet club officials and assess the project before reaching a final decision on the proposed move.

The offer has put Al-Swehly ahead of European clubs that have shown interest in the midfielder. Those approaches have not matched the financial value of the Libyan club’s proposal, which would place Sibo among the highest-paid Ghanaian footballers if completed.

His family are encouraging him to give serious consideration to the agreement because of the scale of the money involved. Sibo must now choose between continuing his career in Europe and accepting a contract that could provide substantial long-term financial security.

Sibo’s most recent club was Real Oviedo, where his listed market value was €1.4 million. His career in Spain also included spells with SD Amorebieta and Betis Deportivo, following his time at Watford.

The midfielder’s profile has grown through his performances in Spain and his involvement with Ghana, including a strong display against England at the World Cup. His time in Egypt signals that the Al-Swehly proposal has moved beyond initial interest, although the transfer is not yet final.
