Ghana striker Rafiq Aminu joins Masafi Al-Wasat on free transfer

Ghanaian forward Rafiq Aminu has moved from Peshmerga SC to Masafi Al-Wasat without a fee, signing through 20 May 2027.

Ghanaian striker Rafiq Aminu has joined Masafi Al-Wasat from Peshmerga SC on a free transfer. The 26-year-old completed the move on 20 August 2026 and has signed a contract that runs until 20 May 2027.

Aminu spent only part of 2026 with Peshmerga SC after arriving from Ch. Brothers in January. His latest switch adds another country to a career that has included club football in Iraq, Georgia, Nepal, India and Spain.

The Kumasi-born forward started his senior career with Shevardeni II before stepping up to FC Shevardeni in 2020. He joined FC Saburtalo at the beginning of 2021 and later represented Samgurali, with all three clubs based in Georgia. During his time at Saburtalo, he was part of the team that won the Georgian Cup in the 2020-21 season.

Aminu later played for Alcudia and Friends Club in Spain before moving to Chitwan in September 2023. He joined Al-Kahrbaa Club in January 2024, then had a spell as a free agent before signing for Ch. Brothers in January 2025. His transfer to Peshmerga followed a year later.

His recorded output includes seven goals in nine Erovnuli Liga 2 appearances and three goals in eight Nepal Super League matches. He scored twice and supplied two assists in 11 Indian Football League appearances, while his Iraq Stars League record stands at one goal from two matches.

The right-footed striker is 1.81 metres tall and was most prolific in Georgia’s second tier, where he scored once every 116 minutes. He also has experience in cup competition, including the David Kipiani Cup. Aminu will remain with Masafi Al-Wasat until May 2027.
