Henry Lebron signs long-term deal with Salita, Universal Promotions

Undefeated Puerto Rican super featherweight Henry “Moncho” Lebron has agreed to a long-term promotional deal with Salita Promotions and Universal Promotions. The IBF’s No. 5 contender will begin working with the two promoters on September 26, when he faces Derlyn Hernandez in a 10-round bout in Puerto Rico.

The venue is still to be confirmed, while Wynn Records Network will broadcast the fight. Hernandez enters the contest with a 14-5-1 record and 12 knockouts. He is ranked No. 14 by the WBO and holds the organisation’s Global Junior Lightweight Championship.

Lebron, 28, is 21-0 with 11 knockouts. He is also ranked No. 12 by the WBO and No. 14 by the WBA, placing him among the leading contenders at super featherweight. His most notable victory came in 2024 against Christopher Diaz, a former world title challenger who had previously gone the distance with Shakur Stevenson and Masayuki Ito.

The Aguadilla fighter was inactive throughout 2025 because of promotional disagreements. He returned in January 2026, stopping Juan Tapia in the seventh round in San Juan. The new agreement is intended to provide the activity he has sought while building towards a potential world title opportunity in 2027.

Lebron had a 153-7 amateur record and won the Puerto Rican National Championships four consecutive times from 2013 to 2016. He turned professional in 2017, but meaningful opportunities have been difficult to secure during recent years. His new management team at Gold Nation Sports prioritised regular fights when considering the partnership.

The agreement also strengthens the cooperation between Salita and Universal, which have staged two events in Puerto Rico in 2026 and plan two more nationally televised shows on the island before the end of the year. The promoters say they want to develop more Puerto Rican talent and create a route between the island and the United States, with Lebron viewed as a future world champion. Wynn Records is part of the partnership and is expanding its boxing presence in Puerto Rico.
