Hope FC appoint ex-Sundowns man Daniels for Motsepe Foundation Championship

Hope FC have named former Mamelodi Sundowns player Clayton Daniels as head coach ahead of their first Motsepe Foundation Championship match.

Hope FC have appointed Clayton Daniels as head coach ahead of their first Motsepe Foundation Championship fixture. The 42-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns player takes charge as the club prepares to face AmaTuks on Saturday.

Daniels was part of the Hope side that secured promotion to the second tier last season. The club won the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League before completing the promotion journey by winning the national ABC Motsepe playoffs.

His appointment comes after Hope ended their association with Dylan Deane, who coached the team during the previous campaign. The change was made before the club’s first season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Hope’s leadership has placed emphasis on developing South African coaches. The club said Daniels had the experience and ability required to lead the team into its next phase, while also confirming that he would receive the organisation’s full backing.

Hope are run by chief executive officer Keagan Buchanan and have also strengthened their squad during the transfer window. Miguel Timm, Samkelo Zwane and Lyle Lakay are among the players brought in before the start of the new campaign.

The fixture against AmaTuks will provide Daniels with his first competitive assignment as Hope’s head coach. It also begins the club’s first season at Motsepe Foundation Championship level after their successful run through the Western Cape and national ABC Motsepe competitions.
