Jiri Prochazka says next UFC fight is not confirmed amid rumors

Jiri Prochazka has said his next UFC fight is not confirmed, despite speculation linking him with Paulo Costa and a possible meeting at UFC 332. The former UFC light heavyweight champion addressed the rumors while outlining his approach to his next training camp.

Prochazka and Costa recently exchanged words, adding to suggestions that they could be matched next. In April, Prochazka had also identified Costa and Magomed Ankalaev as possible opponents he was considering.

The Czech fighter used an Instagram post featuring photographs, video clips and sparring footage to clarify the situation. He said discussions over his next contest were still continuing, but no bout had been agreed. He also indicated that his priority was to build a demanding preparation programme, examine every part of his game and return to fundamentals that have shaped him for a long time.

Prochazka’s most recent appearance ended in defeat against Carlos Ulberg in a contest for the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship. The 33-year-old initially stayed competitive before gaining an advantage when Ulberg appeared to hurt his knee during the opening round.

Prochazka did not make that moment count. Ulberg recovered, landed a clean check left hook and put Prochazka down before finishing the fight with a series of punches. The result left Prochazka without the vacant title and ensured that his next fight will follow a difficult loss rather than a championship victory.

For now, Costa remains only one of the names connected with Prochazka. Ankalaev is another potential option previously mentioned by the former champion, while the UFC 332 speculation has not produced a confirmed matchup.
