Jiyane demands Golden Arrows win at Sundowns in MTN8 semi-final

Golden Arrows captain Ayanda Jiyane has called for victory when his side face Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final on Sunday. The match will be played at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, with the result set to shape the tie before the return fixture.

Jiyane expects an open contest because both teams favour a passing approach. He believes the similarities in their style should make the match enjoyable, but has placed the focus firmly on Arrows securing a result rather than making extended statements before kick-off.

The captain said Arrows must travel to Gauteng with a clear objective: compete strongly and leave with a win. His message reflects the team’s immediate priority in the two-leg semi-final, where gaining an advantage away from home would put them in a stronger position for the second meeting.

Arrows are also pursuing a major piece of club history in this year’s MTN8 campaign. The Durban side last lifted the competition in 2009 and are now aiming to end a 17-year wait for another trophy. Jiyane said that ambition has strengthened the team’s determination ahead of the Sundowns fixture.
