Kenzie Morrison reveals stomach cancer diagnosis as boxing pauses

Heavyweight boxer Kenzie Morrison has revealed a stomach cancer diagnosis after a month of health problems, putting his career on hold.

Kenzie Morrison, the 36-year-old heavyweight and son of former WBO champion Tommy Morrison, has revealed that he has stomach cancer after weeks of health problems. He made the diagnosis public from a hospital bed following a CAT scan for persistent stomach and back issues.

Doctors told Morrison about the cancer before arranging further CT and MRI scans in Tulsa. He was also due to see a neurosurgeon about possible back surgery, followed by discussions with cancer specialists. Morrison has not said that his back condition is linked to the cancer.

The diagnosis has brought his boxing career to a halt as he prepares for treatment and faces growing medical costs. He has started a GoFundMe campaign and said efforts were under way to move him into a specialist programme in Texas or Chicago. The fundraiser had attracted thousands of dollars within hours.

Morrison has asked supporters to keep him and his family in their thoughts and prayers while he waits for more information from his doctors. He described the coming period as the biggest fight of his life and said he was preparing for the battle ahead.

He followed his father into boxing alongside his brother Trey Lippe Morrison and built a professional record of 22 wins, one defeat and two draws, with 20 victories by knockout. His progress was affected by injuries, periods of inactivity and difficulty securing the major fights he pursued.

Morrison returned to bare-knuckle boxing with a 63-second stoppage of Alex Davis on his BKFC debut in June 2025. He then targeted bigger opportunities, including possible bouts with Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. He had trained for a planned BKFC Liberty Brawl appearance in Philadelphia on July 3, but the bout fell through when an opponent could not be found.

The family has also faced a serious setback since Trey was injured in a 2023 car crash, an incident that left his boxing future uncertain. Morrison’s own focus is now on treatment after years spent trying to establish a career in the shadow of his famous father, who died in 2013.
