Kofi Agbesimah joins Al-Etisalat SC on a free transfer
Ghanaian centre-back Kofi Agbesimah has completed a move from FC Samartex to Al-Etisalat SC on a free transfer.
Ghanaian defender Kofi Agbesimah has completed a move to Al-Etisalat SC. The 29-year-old centre-back joined the club on 12 August 2026 on a free transfer from FC Samartex.
This move marks the first time the defender has played for a club outside of Ghana. His career has been spent almost entirely within the Ghanaian football system. Before this transfer, Agbesimah spent two years with FC Samartex in the Ghana Premier League. He had arrived at Samartex from Hearts of Oak in July 2024.
Agbesimah brings significant top-flight experience to his new team. He has accumulated 212 appearances in the Premier League, totaling 18,681 minutes on the pitch. During these matches, he recorded seven goals and one assist. His previous clubs include Bechem United, where he played for over five years after moving from Bectero FC in January 2018, and Hearts of Oak, whom he joined in August 2023.
Standing at 1.81m, the defender has maintained a consistent presence in the central defensive position. While his market value reached a peak of €125,000, he moved to Al-Etisalat without a transfer fee. His valuation prior to the move was €100,000.
The transfer ends his tenure with Samartex and begins a new chapter abroad. His career path has transitioned from Bectero FC to Bechem United, then to Hearts of Oak and Samartex, before this international move.
