Kotoko Chairman urges players to focus on new season ahead

Asante Kotoko Board Chairman James Osei Brown has told the club's players to move past the previous season and focus on a fresh start. Speaking during a team meeting in Accra, Brown told the squad that the club is preparing them for a better future.

The meeting took place as the Porcupine Warriors moved their pre-season training base from Kumasi to the capital. Director of Football Stanley Menzo was also present at the session. Brown acknowledged that the club failed to achieve its objectives during the last campaign, despite the efforts made by the team.

Last season was a difficult period for the club, which finished in eighth place in the Ghana Premier League. The campaign was marked by instability, as the team utilized three different head coaches, including two interim appointments. This lack of continuity impacted the squad's performance throughout the year.

Brown encouraged the players to leave the past behind and maintain determination. He called for consistent effort in every match, stating that the club's objective is to secure wins whenever they compete. The leadership is looking to rebuild the team to challenge for honours in the 2026/27 season.

To facilitate this rebuild, the club has appointed South African coach Eric Tinkler as the new head coach. The management is also working to bring goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim back to the club. Under the direction of Tinkler and Menzo, the hierarchy aims to restore the club's position as a dominant force in Ghanaian football.
