Kotoko chairman warns players Accra camp spot is not a guarantee

Asante Kotoko board chairman James Osei Brown has cautioned players currently in the club's Accra pre-season camp that their participation does not ensure a spot in the final squad for the upcoming season. He made these remarks during a visit to the training camp alongside members of the club's management and board.

Brown emphasized that the selection process remains ongoing under the direction of the technical team. He told the players that being invited to the Accra camp does not mean they have secured their future with the club. He encouraged the athletes to work hard during training sessions to earn their places on the final list.

The club is currently undergoing a significant restructuring of its squad. This rebuilding process has already seen several players remain in Kumasi after being told they are not part of the technical team's plans for the next campaign. Those currently in Accra are still competing to prove their value to the coaching staff.

The players have a limited timeframe to impress the technical team before the squad is finalized. The group is scheduled to return to Kumasi in 16 days for the third edition of the Democracy Cup against Hearts of Oak.

This period of transition follows a season where Asante Kotoko finished in eighth place. The club is now working with a heavily reshaped roster as it prepares for the new season.
