Kurt Okraku reaffirms GFA commitment to football development at all levels
GFA president Kurt Okraku says Ghana’s football authorities remain focused on development, governance and competition integrity across the game.
Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku has renewed the association’s commitment to developing, promoting and protecting football throughout the sport’s structures. He made the commitment on Thursday during the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Session at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Okraku said the association’s responsibilities cover the full football pathway in Ghana. That includes grassroots activity, the professional leagues, national teams and the development of young players. His remarks placed equal emphasis on widening participation and strengthening the structures that support the game.
The GFA’s work with national teams was presented as part of a broader development programme rather than a separate area of responsibility. Okraku also linked the progress of Ghanaian football to continued attention to emerging talent, giving youth development a place alongside the professional and national-team systems.
Improving refereeing was another priority identified by the GFA president. He also highlighted the need to expand football infrastructure and improve governance, areas intended to support the administration and delivery of the sport at its different levels.
Okraku further stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of Ghana’s football competitions. The association’s responsibilities therefore extend beyond organising matches and leagues to protecting confidence in the competitions and the systems that oversee them.
He said the GFA would continue carrying out its mandate to develop and promote football while ensuring that the sport remains beneficial to Ghanaians. The position sets out a wider objective of creating a stronger and more sustainable football system, connecting grassroots development, elite competition, national teams, refereeing, infrastructure and governance.
