Maduka Okoye Calls Udinese’s 1-1 Draw With Como Important Point

Maduka Okoye welcomed Udinese’s 1-1 home draw with Como, saying the point mattered after Hassane Kamara’s opener was cancelled out.

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has described his team’s 1-1 draw with Como as an important result, despite the hosts being unable to secure all three points at the Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday.

Udinese took the lead in the 29th minute through Hassane Kamara. The defender finished a move created by Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, giving the home side an advantage that they protected until half-time.

The hosts kept Como from restoring parity before the break, but the visitors found an equaliser nine minutes into the second half. Anastasios Douvikas converted to bring the score level and put the visitors back into contention.

Udinese then looked for a winning goal, but Como resisted the pressure and left with a share of the points. The result gave Udinese one point from a match in which they had taken the lead and later tried to regain it.

Okoye, who started in goal, was pleased with the outcome against a Como side he viewed as a strong opponent. He acknowledged that Udinese had wanted to win, but said the point remained valuable after the effort required to compete with the visitors.

The Nigeria international also highlighted his contribution between the posts, saying he was happy to assist the team with his saves. He gave credit to the wider Udinese performance as well, describing the team’s display positively despite the missed opportunity to claim victory.

Okoye further praised the support from Udinese’s home fans. He said returning to play at home in front of them was special and stressed their importance to the team, adding that the players appreciated the backing they had received.
