Malawi reach 2026 WAFCON final after 3-1 win over Algeria

Malawi secured a place in the 2026 WAFCON final after defeating Algeria 3-1 in their semifinal match. The Scorchers achieved this milestone in their first-ever appearance at the tournament.

The Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, were instrumental in the victory. Both players scored during the first half to give Malawi an early advantage in the contest.

This semifinal victory also guarantees Malawi a spot on the global stage. All four semifinalists, including Malawi, Algeria, Cameroon, and Morocco, have secured automatic qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
