Marseille asking price for Igor Paixao drops to €40m

Marseille's valuation of Igor Paixao has fallen by €10m in a single day as the French club seeks to balance their books for UEFA and the DNCG.

Marseille's asking price for Igor Paixao has dropped to approximately €40m. This follows a valuation of €50m reported just one day earlier.

The 26-year-old winger is currently on Marseille's transfer list. The French club requires player sales to meet the financial requirements of both the DNCG and UEFA. Paixao is considered the club's most saleable asset during this summer window.

Leeds United, who previously attempted to sign the player before his move to France, remain interested in the winger. While interest from various suitors was previously noted as low, the acceptable price for Marseille has decreased significantly in a 24-hour period.

Marseille paid €30m to acquire Paixao from Feyenoord one year ago. His current market value is estimated at €35m. The club's need to generate revenue quickly to balance their accounts may lead to further price reductions.

Although Marseille has successfully completed several large sales this summer, they still require more departures to meet their financial obligations. This situation provides an opportunity for interested clubs like Leeds United to wait for a more favorable deal.
