McBrown says Asante Kotoko management overlooks her in mobilisation

Nana Ama McBrown says Asante Kotoko must involve Ashanti personalities more directly in supporters’ mobilisation and club activities.

Nana Ama McBrown says Asante Kotoko’s management has not involved her sufficiently in the club’s activities or efforts to mobilise supporters. The Ghanaian actress and television host wants the Kumasi club to engage influential figures from across the Ashanti Region through a structured approach.

McBrown is a prominent Kotoko supporter and serves as a brand ambassador for Hisense Ghana, which has a partnership with the club. She says that connection has not led to enough involvement for either her or the brand in supporting Kotoko’s activities.

Speaking on Luv FM’s DriveTime programme, McBrown said her willingness to help the club extends beyond her position with Hisense Ghana. She made clear that she expects any serious request for her involvement to come from the club’s management rather than from an individual associated with the team.

She called on Kotoko’s leadership to create a platform that would bring together notable personalities and influential people from the Ashanti Region. In her view, those figures could use their reach to promote the club and strengthen its supporter base.

McBrown linked Kotoko’s identity closely to Kumasi and the wider Ashanti Region, saying the club belongs to the people it represents. Her comments amount to an appeal for the management to take the initiative and formally draw regional personalities into the club’s work.

The issue comes as Ghanaian clubs prepare for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, which is scheduled to begin on September 5, 2026. Publicity and supporter mobilisation will be important parts of that preparation, with McBrown arguing that Kotoko should make better use of the goodwill and influence available within its home region.
