Michaely Bihina saves four penalties as Cameroon beat Morocco

Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina saved four penalties to lead her side to the WAFCON 2026 final. The 22-year-old shot-stopper secured a 3-1 victory in a penalty shootout against hosts Morocco following a goalless 120-minute draw at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium.

Bihina's performance included a crucial save in the 118th minute when she denied Morocco's Fatima Tagnaout during regulation time. This save prevented the hosts from taking a lead late in the match. During the shootout, Cameroon's Marie Ngah, Rose Bella, and Myriam Nyadjou successfully converted their spot-kicks, while Morocco's Hanane Ait El Haj scored their only attempt.

The goalkeeper's dominance in the shootout saw Kenza Chapelle, Meryem Atiq, and Sakina Ouzraoui fail to score. This result breaks a long-standing trend for Cameroon, who had lost their previous three tournament penalty shootouts, including a defeat to Nigeria in 2018. Morocco entered the match with a strong record from the spot, having won their last two WAFCON semi-finals via shootouts.

Morocco manager Jorge Vilda attempted to change the game by substituting attackers Ibtissam Jraidi and Nouhaila Badri, but the Cameroonian defense remained disciplined. The Indomitable Lionesses have now eliminated both Nigeria and Morocco in consecutive knockout matches. Cameroon now moves one win away from claiming their first continental title.
